As the raindrops, break through the smoke
I sit back, feel this life's a joke
Can this familiar, rooftop scene
Be anymore contradicting

Can this moon shed, any remorse
And just hide itself from my sullen retort
Shining light on, a casual blue
With a dimly lit sense of the ironic and true

Wandering memories drift from below
As my conscience delivers a staggering blow
How many years, still unappeased
Guilty conviction, affliction, disease

Another taste, of my bottled friend
Another leap, a fall, a trend
As my breath, warms the air ahead
The chill demands, a cooler stead
